Happy Birthday Two Luke

Luke turned two on August 21st. We had a Choo Choo Train party for him at a place called Jumping Party. It was a cool place that has several of those big blow up toys to jump on, climb on and slide down. He loved it and had a great time with his friends and they had a good time too.

We had lots of family that was also able to come too which made it even better; Rachael's mom (Nana), dad (Papa) and sister (Aunt Angie) and Chad's mom (Grandma), dad (Grandpa) and brother (Uncle Scott) and family (Aunt Katie and cousins Caleb and Asher). It was a good time had by all. Enjoy the pictures.

Baby Lane... Home at Last

It was so good to finally get home and to sleep in our own beds, I know Rachael was really excited. Grandma Fineske and our friend Gloria "Mimi" Cobb were a great help with Luke while we were at the hospital for three days and continue to be a huge help... we could not have done it without them because it is a little tougher with two kiddos.

Baby Lane got to go to his first doctors appointment and checked out good and was already back to his birth weight... go Mom. He is eating great and our friends the Coats let us borrow their baby scale to weigh at home and now Baby Lane has hit and passed the 6 lb mark. Life is good. We look forward to having Nana Braden come to visit this week... it should be fun. Keep our family in your prayers as we continue to figure out this two kid thing... so far so good.

The little Lane is doing well and it looks like we will get to go home in the morning... We can't wait to get home. Luke likes his little brother, but does not want to get too close to him yet. He is still trying to figure out who he is. He keeps saying Baby Lane... it is really cute. He prefers to ride the elevators at the hospital than to see his new baby brother. He is so close to his first steps now, so we are definitely in trouble because he is already so mobile and loves pushing his walker all around the house... get ready.

9 Month Update - Big Boy Luke

Hey everyone, time for a quick update on Luke and some new pictures. He is growing so fast and now weighs in at 21 lbs, 6 ozs. Since the last update, Luke has his first tooth popping through and is very close to crawling, but not quite yet... which is ok. He is trying to say some words too, but everything sounds kinda like "da da da". We are trying to teach him some sign language (like more, milk, eat, etc) and he is picking it up a little (trys to do more). He is eating some real food now... pieces of fruit, cheese puff-like snacks and vanilla wafers and it is really entertaining watching him feed himself. He sleeps like a champ (good for us) and loves his bath time. Rachael got to enjoy her first Mother's day with her little boy and had a great day. Luke also got his first dip in the river with his new floaty suit for Memorial Day... he loved the water. We are really enjoying the parent thing and the fun and laughter of having a kid. We hope all is well with your family.

8 Months This Week... and growing so fast.

Hey everyone, we hope you are doing well. We can't believe it, but Luke turned 8 months on the 21st. We have been having so much fun with Luke. He is really funny and laughs all the time, and is so cute (you just want to squeeze those cheeks). Luke continues to grow so fast and is getting close to crawling. He has not quite figured it out yet, but it will not be too long. No teeth yet either, but that seems really close too. We have had a good month since our last update. My brother Scott and his family came to visit, we left Luke with my mom and took our first trip without Luke to California and then took a trip to Fredricksburg for a friend's wedding, celebrated our first Easter with Luke, and we found out that Rachael got approved for her job-share with her company. She will work 2 days a week plus every other Friday, so she will have more time with Luke... this was an answer to prayer.

Big Boy... Six Months Old and almost 17 lbs

Hey everybody, we wanted to post and share some new pictures of our big boy. Rachael took Luke for his six month check-up and Luke weighed in at 16 lbs and 15 ozs and was 26 inches long. Luke continues to do great and to be a lot of fun. He laughs all the time, loves to run in his walker, is using his sippy cup pretty good and is eating carrots and sweet potatoes now and making lots of messes. On Feb 16th we celebrated Rachael's birthday and that was fun. Rachael started back to work after taking six months off, so Luke got to start going to day care. Our pastor's wife and good friend is watching Luke at day care, so we know he is getting lots of love and that makes it better for mom and dad.

Five Months Old Now...

Hello everyone. Over the past week(s), Luke passed the five month marker. He now weighs in at 14 lbs 10 ozs. Luke is now sitting up on his own... not perfect yet, but still pretty good. Luke is eating rice cereal now too, and it is amazing how messy he can get himself. He somehow manages to get cereal on the back of his neck, on his forehead, you name it. At our church in Waco, we got to dedicate Luke during the baby dedication service. It was pretty cool to have our pastor say a prayer for Luke, for us as parents, and for our little family. Grandma Fineske got to come down and share this time with us too. Rachael is also taking Luke to a baby music class at Baylor once a week. It is goofy but cute and Luke has fun playing and dancing around with mom during the songs, and that is what matters. We are having so much fun watching Luke as he grows... each day there is something new.

Back in Texas... Home Sweet Home

Hello Everyone, finally some more pictures of Luke. It has been a few weeks since we posted some new pictures and I think that Luke has changed a lot in that time (how about those cheeks). Everyone made it safely back to Texas from Colorado the previous weekend after Rachael and Luke spent an extra week with Rachael's family. Rachael traveled back to Texas with Luke by herself and Luke did good. He screamed a little on the plane, but he's a baby... he's supposed to scream. It is good to have everyone back home in Texas after a week without them, even though we all had a great time in Colorado.

Hello everyone. We have had a great time in Denver for the holidays, but now it is time to get back to Texas... at least for Chad. Rachael and Luke are going to spend one more week in Colorado. It is amazing how quickly the time flies by on vacation. We have enjoyed sharing Luke with Rachael's family and friends. We hope you enjoyed your time off over the holidays too.

Hello from Colorado. We are spending Christmas with Rachael's family in Denver. Luke did awesome on the flight up to Colorado, probably because he was so tired because we took a 6:00 AM flight out of Waco. When we get back, we will then get to enjoy a late Christmas in Texas at Chad's brother Scott 's home down near Fredricksburg.

We wanted to share a few pictures of Baby Luke because he is now 4 months old and is 24.5 inches long and weighs 12 lbs and 4 ozs. He is a very active, tall and skinny baby and we are working to get some more meat on his bones.

We are enjoying the holiday season with a our new baby boy. We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and may God Bless your time with family and friends. Make sure to check back for some Christmas pictures.

Lots of Firsts...

Finally some more pictures of Baby Luke. Over the past weeks we have had lots of firsts, first airplane trip, first Thanksgiving, first snow, first time to meet Great Grandpa, first successful tummy to back roll over, and first time to see the President and Air Force One.

We spent time in Colorado with Rachael's family for Thanksgiving and had a great time sharing Luke. It snowed the last day we were there, which was cool. We then came back to Texas and got see Grandma Fineske, so both Grandmas in one week, what more could a baby want. Then this week we got to see President Bush as he flew into Waco thanks to our friend Dave.

As a proud parent, I have to say Luke is so cute with his little smile and there is nothing better than your baby son's smile to brighten the day. He has been sleeping 7-8 hours each night so Mom and Dad are smiling more too. This coming Friday the 21st, Luke will be three months old and we have loved every minute. We have really enjoyed getting to share Luke with family and friends. We hope that you are enjoying the pictures as much we enjoying sharing them with everyone. This weekend we embark on our first plane flight with the little man. We are headed to Colorado for Thanksgiving to spend time with Rachael's family for a week. We are taking advantage of Rachael's time off from work. Wish us luck on this exciting adventure.

Lil' Pumpkin

Hey everyone, finally an update. We had our first Halloween with Luke. He wanted to be a little pumpkin baby, so we let him. The little guy is fun and continues to entertain us... what a blessing. We also had Baylor Homecoming fun last weekend. We had a houseful of friends and Rachael got to play in the Baylor Women's Lacrosse Alumni game. She did great and we enjoyed showing off little Luke to all of Rachael's Lacrosse friends. Luke got to meet a new friend little Harrison over the weekend too.

Luke is now consistently sleeping through the tough 1 or 2 AM feeding (yeah). He is now sleeping until about 5 AM each morning. Overall, we had a great week with Luke and our friends. Please keep our family in your prayers.

Two months old and 10 lbs 8 ozs... Baby Luke

Hey everyone, Luke is now two months. Where has the time gone? This past week we took Luke to the State Fair in Dallas. He did real good on his first long trip in the car. We also took Luke to the doctor for his two month check-up... he is a healthy boy and now weighs in at 10 lbs and 8ozs and is 22.5 ins long. He also got his first set of shots (3 total). He took them like a tough little guy... cried a little but shook off the pain. We have settled into a routine with little Luke and continue to enjoy his wake time (he talks, smiles, and is excited when mom reads to him) and then he sleeps (real good). Keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.

Wow, Baby Luke will be two months on Tuesday, the 21st. He is getting bigger and each day brings more and more fun and joy. He smiles a lot, makes noises like he is trying to talk, and loves his mom (and dad too). There is nothing better than the little smile on Baby Luke's face. Luke and mom have enjoyed getting out of the house and visiting friends. Luke does really good, but he just does not like riding in the car too much. We have been so blessed to have Luke in our lives. Please keep our little family in your thoughts and prayers.

Another Great Week with Luke

Hey everyone we had another great week with our baby boy. He is a funny little guy.... a little "toot" machine. He continues to be more attentive to mom and dad and his surroundings. Baby Luke is now 6 weeks old

Hello everyone, we hope that you have enjoyed the pictures of Baby Luke as he grows. It is hard for us to see him change, but our friends say that they can tell that he is getting bigger. Rachael took him to the doctor's office this week to get weighed and he weighed in at 8lbs 5ozs, so that confirms it. We had a fun week with Baby Luke, he is starting to focus on things more and he is smiling (but that is a little questionable could be gas). We are giving him the bottle more now, so that means Dad gets to feed, which is cool. We had lots of friends stop this week to see Baby Luke and we have really enjoyed the visits and sharing him with our friends. Thanks to everyone for the continued thoughts and prayers and the wonderful food.

This was another good week for the family. This week, Baby Luke got his first bottle and seemed to enjoy it, Rachael's sister Angie had to go home after a great week-long visit, and Grandma came to visit and help with Baby Luke. The week started off rough because Rachael was not feeling too good. She had a temperature and flu-like symptoms, but she got some medicine from the doctor and feels much better now. Please continue to pray for our family.

Baby Luke - One Month Old... Already

Baby Luke - Week 3

We have had another great week. This was the first full week that Rachael was home with Baby Luke by herself. They had a good time hanging out together. They got to go on walks, had lunch with friends and dad, and took some naps. Everyone is doing well. Thanks again to all of our friends for the great food... it is appreciated more than you know. Baby Luke - Week 2

Baby Luke had a couple of milestones this week, he passed his birth weight and weighed in at a whopping 7 lbs 3 ozs, he grew half an inch to 20. 5 in long and he got his first bath. Rachael's mom and dad came from Colorado to Texas to see their first grand baby. We had a great time with them. Being a parent is really cool. Please pray for our family.

The Big Day... August 21st, 2008

Hello everyone, We would like to introduce you to Luke Braden Fineske. He was born Thursday August 21st, 2008 at 12:13 PM. He weighed 6lbs and 15 ozs and was 20 ins long. He was born with a lot of hair and both eyes wide open. We expected that seeing and meeting our son for the first time was going to be truly special, but it was 100 times better than we ever would have thought. He is a beautiful baby and the word that we have said over and over is "amazing". Mom is doing great too. She is still a little sore, but wow she did a great job and was feeling good enough that we got to check out of the hospital and go home the next day on Friday. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers because that is what got us through. We have been so blessed to have Rachael's pregnacy and Baby Luke's birth to go so smoothly. Please keep us in your prayers as a family. We look forward to all of you meeting Baby Luke.

Can you believe it? We are so close now, Baby Fineske is due on August 22nd. We are getting really excited, we think we are ready, Rachael is doing great... she is done working (great relief), we got the car seat in the car, and the suitcase is packed. We officially have less than one week from today until the "official" due date, but we all know the due date could be any day now. We had a doctor's appointment last Thursday and everything was good; both baby and momma. Please continue to pray for us as the count down really begins. We have another appointment on Thursday the 21st, so we will see how close we are then... we will let everyone know what we find out.

We got the room painted and three coats later, it was done. We painted the baby room walls yellow and the ceiling is blue. We got all the baby furniture in and got it all put together and set up, and it looks great. We also got the "comfy" chair too. Everyone said that we needed a comfortable chair in the baby room, so thats what we got. It is a glider chair with an ottoman. We have less then 4 weeks left to go if he shows on time.

We are officially less than a month from Rachael's due date... August 22nd. She is still doing great and walking almost every night. She only looks pregnant from the side. The hardest part for her has been the heat... it has been 100+ degrees. Keep Rachael and the baby in your prayers.

Some Early Baby Pictures...

Today we went and got a 4D ultrasound done and here are some of the pictures of the baby at 34 weeks. The baby had at least one hand (and sometimes both) covering his face and then he decided that he wanted to put his foot up too and cover his face. We were able to get some really cool views of our soon to be born son. I think that it is truly amazing that we can see this view into what God has created. Keep momma and the little guy in your prayers.

Getting bigger...

Everything is going great! Rach is feeling really good, and the baby is growing right on schedule (and moving around like crazy)... what a blessing. The big day is now only six weeks away (August 22nd). The reality of the new baby is really setting in because everywhere we look in the house is baby stuff thanks to all the awesome baby gifts from our wonderful family and friends. Please keep us all in your prayers as the big day approaches.

We found out that we are having a little boy. So, Rachael says that the tradition continues with the Fineske's... they do not make girls.
